Just in the last 48 hours or so:

The Virginia legislature passed a sweeping ban on same-sex partners that outlaws any "partnership contract or other arrangements that purport to provide the benefits of marriage."

The Oklahoma state legislature has approved a state constitutional ban on same-sex marriage that will go before the voters in November.

The Missouri House voted to approve a state constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. (The Senate is anticipated to vote for it as well.)

The Michigan House has approved a set of bills that could be used to allow health care providers to refuse GLBTs treatment on ethical, moral or religious grounds, unless they need emergency care. The legislation would allow health care workers and insurers to refuse for reasons of conscience to perform procedures, fill prescriptions or cover treatment. (Again, the Senate is anticipated to vote for it as well.)

At a rally Thursday gay marriage foes hailed Mass Rep Emile Goguen as a hero for wanting to remove the four state justices who decided for legalization of same-sex marriage.

Three legislators introduced a bill Thursday to overturn a law that bans out-of-state couples from marrying in Massachusetts. Two weeks ago Gov Mitt Romney said he would enforce this law, which was designed to stop out-of-state interracial couples, for out-of-state gay couples.

St. Tammany Parish School Board members were faced with a crowd of parents and residents last night asking why a gay/straight alliance club was allowed to form at Fontainebleau High School in Covington, LA.

I'm glad you are posting this stuff, helping to keep us informed, even though I am becoming more frightened daily.

Do we have a chance in November? Do we have a chance at all? We = everyone else that is not "mainstream" Xtian/straight/white/etc.

Grr. Arrgh.

I know that this seems like a very dark time now, but these same things happened with segregation and interacial marriages. It's awful to think that a progressive [cough, hack] nation such as the US would repeat this behavior over and over again, but this injustice too will pass.

Well, you wouldn't expect me to agree with you, but the Michigan story is absolutely appalling. You have my full support in rejecting that one (even if I'm not overly negative on any of the other actions).
