Oct. 11th, 2002 01:27 pmYeah, I know I haven't posted in my personal journal for a while. But I've been quite active over at
animal_crossing. I occasionally take breaks from AC to go to work. Must...break...addiction.
Anyhow, my supervisor at work just threw a little kink into my life. It's a good sort of kink I suppose (no comments from the peanut gallery ;) ). I've been working as a Research Assistant for the Univ of Tenn, but through a medical professionals temp agency. My supervisor said that if they are able to get the PI (Principal Investigator) they've been courting to come on board, they are going to try to negotiate a salary for me (since I've been doing such a good job, go me! ^_^ ). No promises yet, but...well, if it does come to fruition it will certainly complicate matters. Working for UT means, among other things, a significant raise, up to 8 hours tuition at any state-sponsored institution for free, immediate vestment in the retirement plan, and, if I'm not mistaken, full health coverage. Which would make it very tempting to stay here, at least for now. Drat!
In other news, I saw an albino squirrel in the park yesterday.
Cool.

Date: 2002-10-23 11:10 am (UTC)"Your program gives me another idea. How about a program (or perhaps just a standarized image template for a paint program) that would present the grid and the colors could just be filled in, then the entirity saved as a jpg or other image file. I might look into creating a template (that would be the extent of my abilities in this dept), but would you be interested in coming up with a program that would do something along these lines? I would be happy to put you in the acknowledgements, and link to your AC-related program(s)."
There are already some plain image templates, which people can then just fill in using the Fill tool of their paint program of choice; it's from such a set of templates (http://www.animalxing.com/textures.shtml, near the bottom) that I got the colors to be used in my program.
As for myself making a program to save images of filled designs, I only know how to make BMP images save, and even then I'm not sure I know how I could save the output the way my program does it; for now if I want to share a design I made in my program, I just hit Print Screen, paste it in a graphics program, and save it as a GIF or a PNG.
I do know of someone working on an Animal Crossing design program that just lets you fill in single squares with the colors, but the only thing I've seen of it thus far is a single screen shot, so I'm not quite sure what it will entail.
